DIY face mask has always been the preferred option to those who do not want to spend extra bucks on skincare/beauty products. I’ll have to admit it, some masks that are sold in our local beauty stores can be a tad too expensive for us, especially students. But still, that’s not a reason for us to just neglect our skin entirely, right? The skin needs to be pampered twice or thrice a month so that they stay healthy and beautiful.Therefore, DIY (Do It Yourself) face masks is the best solution to your problem!

So, here are some face mask recipes that you can simply make at home! Most of the ingredients used are the ones that you can get from your kitchen (or your mom’s kitchen!) such as baking soda, sugar and honey. So there is no need to fork out your money to buy expensive face mask anymore! Everything can be homemade!

Yogurt Face Mask

Here’s one of the easiest face mask because you can simply use plain yogurt! Yogurt is known to help cleanse your face and tighten the pores and thus, helping the skin to appear more healthy. Just take a tablespoon of plain yogurt, slather it all over your face and leave it for about 15 – 20 minutes. And that’s it, you’re done! To add more benefit to your face mask, you can squeeze in some lemon and a teaspoon of aloe as well. Lemon is known for its brightening effect and aloe on the other hand helps to moisturize the skin!

If you want to exfoliate your skin and at the same time, moisturizing it, you may want to try combining lemon juice with some oils such as olive oil and sweet almond oil. Oils are known to hydrate your skin and keeping them moisturize all day long, especially if you’re using olive oil. Just leave the mask on your face for around 20 minutes before rinsing it off.

Egg Face Mask

Now this is one ingredient that I believe every house has in the refrigerator, right? Believe it or not, you can totally use eggs as your face mask! If you have dry skin, you need to separate the yolk and beat it before applying it on your face. It helps to moisturize your skin to the fullest. On the other hand, if you have oily skin, you may want to take the egg white instead and slather it all over your face. Of course, you can add other ingredients as well such as honey in order to reap more benefits.

Turmeric Face Mask

This one is for anyone with a dull skin problem. Turmeric is known for its benefits such as antioxidants which help to keep the skin appears more youthful. It also helps to brighten the skin and thus, making it look fresh and radiant. So here’s the recipe to combat the dullness. Use a teaspoon of turmeric, a teaspoon of honey and some milk/plain yogurt and mix them all together. Apply it on your face and leave it for 10-15 mins.

Do you have extra dry skin and you’ve tried everything to combat it but nothing seem to work? Well, you may want to try this one out! Mix in some raw oats, crushed bananas and honey together and slather them on your face. Oats are known for exfoliating the skin, whereas honey and the potassium banana help to really hydrate the skin. I’m sure that your skin will thank you later for trying out this mask!
