Oatmeal Face Mask.  Have you ever thought of wearing your favorite breakfast cereal on your face as a face mask?.  Widely consumed by millions of people everyday due to the claims that it may reduce the risk of the heart disease and lower the blood cholesterol, Oatmeal does not only bring benefits for health but it can also be used for beauty.  The popularity of Oatmeal face mask has increased tremendously over the past few years.  All this thanks to beauty gurus that keep on promoting it over the internet, and Instagram of course!

Oatmeal Face Mask is suitable for all skin types and highly recommended for sensitive, allergy and eczema prone skin because of its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties.  Moreover Oatmeal also has moisturizing effect and helps to remove dead skin cells if used as scrub. Whats good for the tummy is good for the skin as well.

Is there any side effects?

Oatmeal Face Mask Recipes

Basically there are several options that you can choose to mix the ingredients with Oatmeal to get the best results for according to your skin types.  Sharing with you 5 recipes on how you can utilize the Oatmeal for your skin.

1.  The Basic Oatmeal Face Mask

You can use Oatmeal alone as the main ingredients of the mask and still receive its benefits.

  • 5 tablespoons of ground oatmeal
  • Water

Mix the ground oatmeal with water to make a smooth paste. Massage the mixture onto your face for better absorption  and let it dry for around 10 – 15 minutes. Rinse off the mask with lukewarm water.  Ideally this mask could help to remove dead cells.

2. Oatmeal Mask for  Nourish Skin

Banana helps to lock moisture and helps heal blemishes while milk is known to make the skin more supple and soft.  The combination will results in having a nourish skin if applied at least twice a week.

  • 1 tablespoon of ground oatmeal
  • 1/2 ripe banana
  • 1 teaspoon of milk

Mash the ripe banana into a lump free pulp and then add milk and ground oatmeal.  Massage the paste to the face and avoid the eyes area. Leave it for 10 to 15 minutes until the mask dries off and finally rinse it with lukewarm water.

3. Oatmeal Mask to Fight Acne

Egg white can soak up the excess oil to prevent acne, shrink pores and also fades its scars whereas lemon can benefit in killing the bacteria that cause acne.  This is the best recipe for acne prone skin.

  • 1/2 lemon
  • An egg white
  • 1 tablespoon of ground oatmeal
  •  Water

Mix ground oatmeal and lemon juice in a bowl.  Put the egg white into the mixture if you find it too thick add water. Apply to the face and neck and leave it to dry. Rinse the mask with lukewarm water.

4. Oatmeal Mask for Clarifying Skin


For clarifying skin yogurt and honey is the power ingredients. Besides cleansing and rejuvenating honey also moisturizes the skin. Yogurt contains nutrients that helps to nourish the skin.

  • 2 tablespoon of powdered oatmeal
  • 1 tablespoon of yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Put all ingredients in a bowl and mix them together until become a paste.  Apply the mixture on the skin and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse your face with lukewarm water.

5. Oatmeal Mask to Repair Damaged Skin

Aloe Vera heals damaged skin and promotes the growth of healthy new skin cells, while cucumber can boast both hydrating and cooling qualities.

  • 2 tablespoon of oatmeal
  • 2 tablespoon of aloe wera Gel
  • 1 teaspoon of grated cucumber
  • Water / rose water

Blend all the ingredients until smooth.  Apply the mixture to discolored or damaged skin and let it to dry.  Be careful when applying to skin as it can be irritating.  Rinse with lukewarm water followed by cold water and pat dry. It is suggested for you to apply at least 3 times a week for best results.

Rule of thumb in preparing the Oatmeal Face mask is always ensure that the utensils and the ingredients is clean and at their top conditions.  As handling it might be a messy situation it is suggested for you to wear your old t-shirts as the mask might drip.
