Please introduce yourself
I’m Tengku Ezulia, a girl hailed from a small town in Kota Bharu. Now I live in Kuala Lumpur making a living out of cutting people open. I have an alter ego, Lea Azlan who comes out to have fun once in a while. She likes to play dress up, snap photos and upload them on Instagram and get paid for that.
What is your current occupation?
I’m an Otorhinolaryngology Surgeon while my alter ego is a social media influencer.
Where can we find you online?
How did you start your career ?
As a surgeon, it started way back when I enrolled in medical school (clearly I didn’t know what signed up for) but it was all good. This is where my true passion lies.
After completing 5 years of medical school, 2 years of housemanship, 2 years of MOship, and 4 years of being Trainee… here I am. It wasn’t an easy journey but it sure worth it.
Being a social media influencer happened by accident. I posted a few #ootd photos and gained new followers. That’s pretty much what happened.
What’s the current update about yourself?
I just graduated my master in November 2016. So now I’m a newbie surgeon in town. A lot of people think that once you’ve passed your exam and you can finally call yourself a surgeon, that’s it… You’ve made it in life. But it’s not so. There’s always something new to learn and there’s a learning curve for everything.
I’m always finding balance between work and other stuff that a normal girl likes… being pretty, wear nice clothes, time for family and friends. I always take pride that it’s something I’m good at. So I intend to keep it that way.
Favorite new beauty product you have tried?
I tried beauty serum from IG: @hellobeautifulskin. I like the texture and it gives healthy glow to my skin and keeps it moist. Other than that, my beauty regime consists of Clarins and SK II.
Where do you spend most of your time?
If I have to be honest, I would have to say my hospital.
Name one place where you would recommend people to visit in Malaysia.
People should totally go to Redang Island. Been there and I love it.
Do you have any mantra that you believe in?
Do good. If you can’t do good, do no harm.
What’s in your makeup bag right now?
Concealer from Catrice, Foundation from Anna Sui, Benetint lip stain from Benefit, Hoola bronzer from Benefit, Hypersharp eye liner from Maybelline, Eye Shadow and matte lip colour from @lovefromzahara.
How would you describe your personal style?
Comfortable and a mix of chic and preppy.
What’s your typical day like at work/weekends?
Work starts as early as 7.30am with ward rounds followed by either seeing patients in the clinic or operative cases in the operation theater. My weekends are spent with family and friends and maybe if I can afford it… some me time.
Favorite place you have travelled to?
Paris. Been there twice and I don’t mind going there again and again.
How do you unwind after work?
Hot shower, a little cardio work out, good dinner, a bit of reading and probably about an hour of replying my emails and checking my social medias.
Any beauty advice from your mother?
Not really. She’s just beautiful inside out.
What’s next for you?
Subspecialty… maybe. It’s something that I look forward to.
Who is your ULTIMATE Beauty Icon
Well, it’s never a secret that I have two girls whom I had secret girl crush during my early Instagram days and they ended up being my friends (secret blown then).
They are @jue_ashburn and @fiena5. Their style is impeccable and they are still my beauty icons.
Movie that made you laugh the hardest?
Favorite beauty brands?
Clarins for beauty regime. Benefit for make up.
What makes you smile the most?
Seeing my patients get better and having young girls come up to me saying that I inspire them.
Tell us how you got started in makeup.
It develops as my career as social media influencer takes off. I have to give lots of credits to you tube tutorials.
Favorite Malaysian meal?
Nasi Lemak Village Park.
What was the last book that you’ve read?
How to Talk to Anyone by Leil Lowndes.
Any signature scent?
Nina by Nina Ricci.
Instagram or Snapchat?
What is your lazy girl beauty staple?
When I’m busy or just plain lazy, I just put on my moisturizer or serum for a radiant glow. Then I hide my eye dark circles with concealer. A bit of tint on the lips and cheeks and I’m good.
